Hi there. Many of you will already know me, but just in case you don’t my name is Craig Riley and I currently volunteer as the Safeguarding/Welfare officer for the club.
I joined in 2021 and immediately fell in love with the camaraderie and friendly attitude from the other members. That’s why it didn’t take me long to volunteer to become part of the committee. I am now retired but previously I was a Police Officer for 30yrs, and with the communication and negotiating skills that job provided so I decided to volunteer for the safeguarding position.
Archery GB are committed to creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment for everyone involved in archery. It is our shared responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk and protect them from poor practice, abuse, grooming and bullying. Working with the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) Archery GB has developed policies, procedures and guidelines to support everyone in our sport.
My role is to act an initial conduit for any issues you have. Whether this be on a small scale where I can act as a go between or negotiator, or for anything more serious where I will take details and pass them onto the Archery GB safeguarding office for further investigation.
A lot of the training I have completed is quite rightly centred around the protection of children. But I would like to make it clear that I am happy to speak to anyone who has any concerns about what happens in the club, whether it involves them or their concerns for another. You can either email me at the email address below or just approach me at any time you see me.
All conversation will be confidential as required under AGB Safeguarding policies and treated with the upmost discretion.
Always remember that at all times, our members, coaches, parents and committee members should show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others.
Happy Shooting!
Craig
